The History of Horse Racing

November 21, 2009

Known as the “Sport for Kings” horse racing is the second most popular sport in the U.S.A. after baseball.

The origins of  modern racing lie in the 12th century where knights returned from great crusades with magnificent Arab horses.

Rich nobleman matched the two fastest animals, the Arab stallions and the English mares to produce a colt/filly that had great endurance and speed.

Wagering on the horses became popular and fun for the people with the money.

Horse Racing is still very popular today.
