This sturdy, small, and stocky horse also known as Avelignese is a breed that developed in Austria. These horses are quite energetic but have quite smooth gaits and are very strong and reliable. They are always a tawny
chestnut color and they are used for endurance riding, dressage, and more, but also can be used in draft and harness work. These horses are quite elegant, their strides are thorough and smooth despite their stockier build. The Haflinger breed is named after a small village in Italy called Hafling.
These horses have a good temperament and are hard workers. They are of good disposition and are quite easy keepers.
The height of these horses is about 13.4 hands and they weigh anywhere from 800 lbs. to 1300 lbs.
These horses have a noble and lean face and eyes that are positioned forward and large. They have well-pronounced withers that go far into their back and a medium-sized neck. Their legs have clean and clear distinctive joints with wide knees.
