The Bud Stables are a home to 35 Clydesdale geldings, stallions, mares, and foals.
Anheyser Busch has one of the biggest herds of Clydesdales and has about 250 nationwide. Only the best Clydesdale’s get to be on the Budweiser team. The Clydesdales travel in gigantic nicely decorated trucks with their pictures on the front.
The Budweiser Clydesdale’s came to Kent OH on October 12, 2007 in the afternoon and paraded around giving out beers to the local bars.
Requirements to be on the Budweiser Team
- The full grown Clydesdales should stand up to 18 hand (about 6 ft.) at the shoulder.
- Should weigh about 2, 00-2,300 pounds.
- Should have a nice, rich bay color.
- Should have a black mane and tail and a white blaze on their forehead.
- And most importantly they should have white stockings on their feet.
- And are always supposed to be geldings.
The Clydesdals are big powerful, muscular horses with big hooves and a strong head. The Clydesdales are easy to spot in a big crowd of horses. The Budweiser Clydesdale horses were decorated like christmas trees with shiny tack, their hooves polished, and their mane and tails braided into fancy braids they looked like the preetiest christmas tree in the world!
The horses were hitched to a big carriage with two coachmen and a dalmatian dog atop the carriage. I watched them till they fadded away into the distance.
