Winnie the Horse Gentler by Dandi Daley Mackell

I got this book because it was recommended as a great book at my book club and everybody voted for this book to be the book of the week.

This book is about 12 year old Winnie Willis who has found the perfect horse, finally. The problem is that Winnie has no money to buy her dream horse, or care for it. Winnie comes up with a plan. She decides to go to an auction and buy a horse. Then she plans to tame the horse and make it friendly and a good companion. When Winnie goes to the auction she can’t find the perfect horse to buy and tame. There she buys her dream horse but she will have to sell it at an upcoming auction!

My favorite thing about the book was that it was easy to read, engaging, and I could not put it down. And my favorite part was the end when she finally buys her dream horse, Nickers. Actually the whole thing was my favorite part but I really enjoyed the ending.

The author could make the book better by making it way LONGER. I was so disappointed when I finished it. But soon I that the book was only the first book in the whole series. I was very happy.

I would highly recommend this book to kids between the ages of 8-12. I had the most fun reading this amazing book.
